The race must go on…. 19-11-2004 à 16:44 |
Mother’s passing. It is a time to reflect and be in communion with my deceased mother. Already I miss her so…as well as my father, who passed away 19 years ago. I grieved with my two children, brother, family and close friends, thanks.
After spending a few days in Switzerland, it is with a heavy heart that I resume the race. From this moment until the completion of our World Tour, it is with you in my thoughts Mom, that I will be running that very first kilometer every day ! |

Mother ... 10-11-2004 à 07:15 |
A one way trip.
I am not mournful for good times gone by, but rather thankful that those days existed. She passed away suddenly, alone at home in Sion
(Valais-Switzerland), on November 3rd.

On our way from Washington to Baltimore… 31-10-2004 à 16:40 |
Drizzle, fog and wind have accompanied us lately. As I am running from one town to another, on the East Coast of the USA, thousands of multicolored leaves whirl in my path.
While in Kansas City and St-Louis Missouri, a gentleman by the name of Joe Roetheli, an American descendant of the Roetheli family having immigrated to America around 1854, organized for us 2 days of conferences, meetings, newspaper and televised interviews, to publicize and promote our World Run for Kids Tour. Our cause; the eyes of children operated by Ron Zamber.
Another step forward…

A show of generosity 23-10-2004 à 18:53 |
Nicole has dental problems.
After an examination and X-ray, the dentist refers us to another, who will perform a root canal… she is referred again to a third dentist who completes the dental treatment.
All 3 professionals are supportive of our endeavors and provide services free of charge. We offer many thanks to Mr. Thomson, Mr.Wozniak, Mr. Mamrick.
Our motorcycle needs servicing; a few parts have worn out. Mrs. Caroline of Heyser Cycle has provided repairs at no cost to us. Thank you.
Throughout this, Darren offers his hospitality, another deep felt thank you. People have demonstrated much solidarity toward our World Tour.

21 October ZigZag Café. 14-10-2004 à 19:20 |
Gilbert (from Videoscoop) called; he is live on a TV set. He is presenting a few clips depicting our World Tour to Swiss television viewers. The show is called Zig-Zag Café and will be aired on Thursday October 21, 2004 at 1:15 PM- and rebroadcast later in the evening.
The changing season has taken us by surprise. Fall has somehow suddenly arrived in Virginia this past week. The signs are all around us, falling leaves, fog in the chilly morning air, and geese flying south !
A phone call brings much sadness…

Tranquil America 24-09-2004 à 17:10 |
We are pressing forward in this stage of our journey in an enjoyable atmosphere. Forests are beautiful, there is little traffic and a gentle northern wind blows on a tranquil America. Perhaps the only difficulty lies in finding our way in a maze of highways, bridges, one-way streets and no thoroughfare signs etc
We have made several detours, some a few miles long simply to find a place to sleep.
We also search for libraries, the only available public access to the Internet allowing us to publish our "news". Unfortunately, libraries are often situated off the beaten track, miles away from downtown. This is a continent where distance is measured in hours of car travel.
Greetings to all!
35'879 Km (22 424 miles) Fayetteville, South Carolina
Bye, bye
Serge & Nicole
